Welcome!

If you are reading this, then I believe it is fair to assume that one of two things have happened:

  1. You have inadvertently fallen upon this blog.
  2. Having stumbled upon my LinkedIn, you have clicked through to soane.io.

In the case of the former, “What is it all about?” I sense you ponder upon as you contemplate returning to find the page you initially sought to find.  In the case of the latter, there is a decent chance you are thinking along similar lines.

This initial post I hope will in some way answer your queries.

Depending on your route towards discovering this website, you may or may not know that I am a software engineer.  In fact, should you read my (currently incomplete) bio, this would be confirmed.

During my studies in Nottingham, I maintained a GitHub Pages portfolio at this domain, to which I shared some of the projects I completed.  Upon commencing employment I realised that sharing the intellectual property of my employer might be somewhat, well, illegal, and my portfolio became somewhat mothballed (though it is still available here).  Since then I have toyed with the idea of creating a blog, and that is what this is.

If you’re still with me at this point you may be wondering what you’re likely to find here.  To be perfectly honest, as a live project I cannot say for certain, however as a software engineer it is quite likely I’ll share various musings about various methodologies and fields of interest in software development.  I may also share my thoughts on some of my other interests, such as opera, whisky and the outdoors.

Anyhow, this site no longer looks so unprofessional that the landing page is a default “Hello World” post!  If any of this interests you, feel free to check back here again. If it doesn’t then I wish you well!
